Role

The Lead Design Engineer - R&D Mechanical role is based out of the corporate headquarters in Noida. The incumbent in this role will be responsible to design & introduce new products and improve existing products with various criteria related to functionality, manufacturability, maintainability, aesthetics, cost-effectiveness, user experience and environmental & safety standards as well as mentor and guide the GETs / engineer for the above.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate New Product Development from new solution or product requirement from PM/Sales team and Management.
  • Conceptualize & produce ideas, assess risks, minimize the likelihood of error, achieve projected costs and evaluate the potential success of the intended project.

  • Review competitor products; conduct reverse engineering.

  • Prepare 2D & 3D drawings, release BOM for Product Realization. incorporate maker-checker concept. Prepare the final design & drawings for Product Realization.
  • Develop test plan & quality check requirements and finalize in consultation with ME & Quality teams.

  • Address design/drawing related queries from various stakeholders during the entire product life cycle.

Key Skills, Qualifications, and Required Years of Experience

  • BE/B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering, 60% and above throughout education
  • 3-8 years of experience
  • Experience in machine design for New Product Development, automation industry with exposure to selection of machine design catalogue items, sheet metal, fabrication, machining, welding, bending & assembly processes.
  • Knowledge of Machine design including Mechanical Stresses, Deflection, Material selection and Material Finish.
  • Experience in design and development of Electro-Mechanical Drive systems, including the application and selection of Motors, Gearboxes, Linear Motion Guides etc.
  • Preparation of Design with Cad Model and project plan /timelines for review and approval. Upload and release of Cad Model and Documents after design finalisation in PLM.
  • CAD proficiency in Solidworks
  • Exposure to Autocad, Ansys, PLM.
  • Exposure to Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
